although I do imagine they will try and rape it for as much as they can before they bite the bullet.
maybe it's worth flogging all our stuff in game and selling the credits before we quit?

I've been here since the beginning, so I'll be one of the soulless non-greedy people that stick around to the end. To be honest, it's never been about the free stuff for me - I just want back my game!

For me it's always been about Star Wars. I can't simply hop from MMO to MMO just because. I know most of you can't and won't understand, but I live and breathe Star Wars as my genre of choice. TOR doesn't bring that to me - it's just WoW with a fancy name on it.

I guess to those people who will be leaving, one final question remains....

I'm not greedy, for me it had NOTHING to do with wanting free stuff, it had everything to do with SOE finally making it obvious that they treat players of this game as second class citizens in their gaming empire, i'm not quitting because i want more free stuff, i'm quitting because they obviously don't want me.

I used to feel the same as you, i thought i would never quit, but everyone has their limits, and the way things have been going i've finally reached mine, it's fairly obvious that SOE don't care about SwG, they're just keeping it ticking over until it reaches the point where it's no longer proffitable to maintain, and to be quite frank, starwars or not i am just not willing to commit any more of my time or money to the game knowing that.

I've found that at the moment Lord of the Rings Online is taking care of my gaming needs, and it's doing it for free and it's again another well known setting that i have been interested in since the day i first picked up The Hobbit (i read the whole of the hobbit and the three lord of the rings book in a week while off sick from school when i was nine, just couldn't put it down).

As to my stuff, you don't have enough accounts to hold all my stuff

to be honest I think some of the turning points were, one when they introduced the card game, you can argue all you want, but it was made as a way for people to spend their money in a gamble in the hope of getting exclusive items, when this happened it removed the aspect of working for some of the rewards in the game.

I think the other turning point was when they down sized the developers, can't remember exactly when this was, but if you don't have a big enough team to maintain everything AND be able to add new elements in decent times then I think thats when they gave their indication that they had lost interest in it.

I would much prefer that they pulled their finger out and re-vamped swg a bit adding in some of the elements that people want, and keeping the true star wars universe alive, TOR might turn out pretty and could turn out a fun game, but part of the draw of star wars is/was the iconography of the original trilogy, the opressive Empire, the valient Rebels, the struggle of good vs evil, light vs dark. one of my little bug bears on TOR is that it's set what 1000 years before? 10,000 maybe? (I forget off hand) but you would think they would have had a degree of technilogical advancement over that time lol, in some respect even the KOTOR games could have been set around a similar time give or take a decade, just a different area of space... (based on the parts you visit)

I understand Deklen's point of view, but I understand Beli's too, part of the points of MMO's are to be able to hop on and have fun with a bit some people they know, just looking for someone to have a laugh with.

SwG is back up, but you won't be able to play until you have changed your password.

Go to www.soe.com and click login, then enter your current username and password, it will return a message that you have to change your password, click the link it gives you and follow instructions.

I know some of us have played EVE in the past, and as I've been playing EVE on top of SWG for a few months now, and seeing as a lot of people have already given up on SWG, I am considering setting up another cooperative initiative with my brother in EVE. It will be something similar to last corp, but actually have a function lol. We're looking for trustworthy folks, who are up for pursuing treshah! (And a lot of fun). I exaggerate that we are looking for dedicated players that want to work towards a cooperative goal, leading to split profit. Just a few should do, currently thinking of 1/2, maybe 3 extra folks.

Well im of the same oppinion as you Beli tbh. Galaxies has died its final death for me really, and this shows it. Dont like to admit it but when TOR does come along that will probably be a huge hit for whats left of the game tbh.

I'll be going back to EVE I guess when I get the time. I love star wars but I cannot just play a game for the sake of it being star wars if the company providing it are just sheer neglectful.

I might use the 4 hours for plex dealio thingy to log on to eve and buy some plex ingame, give it a go for a bit, won't play for keeps as i'm totally hooked on LotRO atm, but will probably pop on and say hi sort of thing.

If poeple are planning on playing eve a bit more frequently, my character is Hiola Frost. would be great to have you on contacts. otherwise, I'll NEVER GIVE UP SWG MWAHAHAHA!

only problem with Eve was people seemed to loose interested, well other than some being too scared to loose ships/stuff.. but thats part of what the game is...

I was just bored of waiting for skills to improve, at least this time going back i'll have a basis to work from.

What is really annoying about EVE is that a lot of core skills have to be trained anyhow. Skills that greatly improve your fitting possibilities, tanking skills and specialised weapon skills. Misleading is that these skills are not required to theoretically use the weapons and modules, but you do need them if you want to be any effective in using them.

I am finally at the point of having many of the core skills to either 4 or 5 on both my characters, it is great as these skills are needed for any path you go. This is what everyone just has to bite through, I know it sucks to train weeks for skills that do not directly allow you to use new stuffs.

I have spent quite a lot of time skilling in the use of assault frigates and interceptors while I recently discovered that I will want to switch from hybrids to missiles, aswell as changing from light ships to Battlecruisers and Battleships.
Eventually in the far future I'd think it would be awesome to use a Tengu strategic cruiser, to some known as the ultimate solo PvE ship.

So yea, I am happy I already have a lot of universal skills. It sucks to train these but there is no way around. (apart from buying a character what quite a lot of people seem to do recently lol).

To be honest, i have most of the core skills at 4/5 myself, and quite a few specific skills at 3, the reason i gave up in the end is a) because we were supposed to be returning to swg and making a new start and b) becuse the skills i was working on were 20+ day skills and it was driving me nuts.

Plus it's another game where if you want to do multiple aspects of the game (mining/crafting/combat) you had to have alt accounts because you can only skill up one character at a time.

Maybe if they allowed you to learn three skills at a time it wouldn't be so bad, but i really don't fancy the constant waiting for skills with the only thing to really do while waiting being famring missions or mining.

I really wanted to get into the PvP aspect of the game, but until you have a good spread of skills it's juts a waste of time because if you're not with a group of good PvP'ers you will just be blown out of the water and have to start over as we found out on a few ocassions.

You don't need expensive ships to PvP in contrary to what many think. Tackler roles are always needed in some pvp corps, cheap frigates etc, if you're really interested in PvP thats what most say is the best way to start, and there are more roles/possibilities like that.

I'm not talking about expensive ships, i'm talking about the skills needed, to be even slightly effective you need a lot of skills, even as a tackler, and even then especially if you're using a light tackler like a rifter or something and in a group, there's a high chance you will get swatted in the first volley.

I've run tackler and ecm fits on both low end frigs, bc's and battleships in corp fleets and on all ocassions i've been targeted and swatted in the first run because my skills aren't good enough.

If you want to pvp and want to enjoy it, doing it with low SP is going to put you off no matter who you run with.
