These are basic formations which wing commanders will have to master before practicing advanced formations;

Column;



Column formation is used when approaching an objective or enemy battlegroup as this formation is a great way to reduce the profile of Imperial forces.
Ships at the head of the column help screen the ships behind it making a larger force seem less significant.
It is advised to change formation once within close proximity to the target as offensively this formation is very weak, having all ships in a column means that it is easier for the enemy to target them.

Line Abreast;



Line abreast is a standard offensive formation, it allows all guns to bare over a wide area.
Due to the ships being spread out it also makes a good formation for searching space for an objective.
Spreading out ships in a line abreast formation may also make a smaller force seem larger than it is.

Diagonal;



This is a bombing formation with the wing leader ahead of his wingmate, for the purpose of this formation the wingmate should be carrying the more important ordnance load as the ship at the head of the formation is going make cotact with enemy fire first.
